Pediatric Care in Miami

In many hospitals, children are treated as tiny adults, but Kendall Regional Medical Center understands that kids have unique care needs in both a clinical and emotional sense. Our pediatric care department is designed just for children and staffed with pediatric specialists to address a wide range of conditions that may arise in adolescence. With this specialized care, children feel more comfortable in the hospital and parents feel confident that their kids will get the medical attention they need in any situation. Below, you can get a closer look at what our Miami facilities have to offer for your family when its youngest members need medical care.

Kid-Centered Hospital Care

Safety, warmth, and family-centered care are at the center of what we do in the pediatric department at Kendall Regional Medical Center. We have made an effort to listen to what kids want in their hospital experience and designed pediatric amenities based on this input.

  • Pediatric Advisory Council – In order to provide children with a welcoming environment, Kendall Regional has created the Pediatric Advisory Council, which engages local children to let them design their hospital stays. Meal choices, entertainment, and hospital activities are all provided with kids’ expert opinions in mind.
  • Inpatient Pediatric Facilities – The pediatric unit features 12 beds with a central playroom offering video games and TV, a nourishment room, and a state-of-the-art treatment room. Families are always welcome to provide extra comfort and company as children receive the care they need.
  • PICU – When children are critically ill, they will receive the best possible care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The PICU is outfitted with the latest technologies available for the care of young patients facing serious injuries or illnesses.

Bringing Your Child to Kendall Regional Medical Center

While Kendall Regional Medical Center works to provide the most child-friendly care available, children still need the support of parents to help them stay comfortable in the hospital environment. Before bringing your child to the hospital, you can reduce any anxiety your child may have by explaining in kid-friendly language what the hospital visit will be like and why it is necessary. Bringing comforting items like a favorite toy, pillow, or stuffed animal to the hospital can also be helpful for creating a warmer environment where your child feels safe and sound.
